On 20 April 2019, Bangsar South’s lifestyle hub, The Sphere was accorded a Landscape Design Honour Award in the Professional Category of the 11th Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA). This is the third time Bangsar South has received the award, with The Central Park and The Village also receiving Honour Awards for landscape design excellence in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
The Sphere intertwines green landscaping and flowing water features for a fresh, vibrant environment. Modern steel and glass architecture creates a spacious layout that integrates both the indoor and outdoor sections of the hub. More than just a pleasant environment, it is tenanted by a supermarket, lifestyle brands, and a wide selection of eateries and restaurants, making The Sphere the ideal destination for convenient enjoyment, worthy of recognition.
The MLAA has recognised The Sphere as exemplary in landscape design and has deemed it an inspiration to future design trends alongside several other selected projects. The annual event is organised by the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM), created in 2007 when Malaysia was selected to host the International Federation of Landscape Architects World Congress. Landscape design aside, the MLAA also recognises the contributions of parties who helped shape Malaysia’s landscaping ecosystem, including architects, developers, consultancy firms, government agencies and the media.
