For every school-goer, new back-to-school items inspire motivation to start a fresh term. Sparked by this idea, UOA Group (UOA) started ‘Kembali Ke Sekolah’ in 2015 as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, a campaign that brings joy and hope into the lives of children from low-income families, while supporting their basic needs.
On 13 December 2018, for the fourth year running, UOA gave away new school bags and stationery sets to more than 500 primary and secondary underprivileged schoolchildren in Kerinchi. The event took place at Suria Bangsar South, a UOA-sponsored community centre operated by ADRF Malaysia. The event was graced by Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, who also helped to distribute the gifts to the delighted children.
In an organisation that values community, this campaign is particularly significant, allowing UOA to make a positive difference to the communities where it has a presence. As UOA Development Bhd General Manager (Projects) Stephanie Kong explained, “This initiative complements our CSR objective and commitment to provide financial assistance to less-privileged families in the communities in which we operate.”
